The Design and Technology Association – Privacy Policy

In compliance with UK and European data protection regulations, including GDPR, this privacy policy explains what personal information we collect from you when you visit our website or are a recipient of our services.

The Design and Technology Association is committed to processing personal information about its customers in ways that comply with its legal and regulatory obligations, and to being clear with customers about what it does with their personal information.

The Design and Technology Association is committed to keeping customers’ personal information secure to protect it from being inappropriately or accidentally accessed, used, shared or destroyed, and against it being lost.

Third party access

Access to your personal information is only allowed when required by law. We do not, and will never, sell or share your personal information with third parties except when processing orders as necessary.

For British Council funded courses, data will be shared with the British Council for the purposes of administering the funded programme. For details, click here.

For our general day to day data processing activities, we use the following to help us administer and monitor the services we provide:

to share newsletters, promotional detail, industry news or other information that may be of interest to you

We plan to keep you updated on Design and Technology education related matters including training and other events, resources to support teaching, curriculum and other projects or lobbying activities. You can opt out of these at any time by following the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails.

Data Protection for British Council, Sustainability Design Challenge and Embedding Sustainable Practice in D&T Courses

Privacy Notice

The Design and Technology Association is collecting your personal information on behalf of the British Council to arrange training and to provide you with mentoring and support for the duration of training courses. We will also share your information with Ecorys, a third party research consultancy commissioned by the British Council to compile reports on the impact of Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning (CCGL) training on teaching practice. These reports are shared with the Department for International Development, co-funder of the Connecting Classrooms programme. The legal basis for collecting your personal information is agreement with the Terms and Conditions of the CCGL programme (contract).

You will be asked to complete surveys which are used to monitor and evaluate the quality of training and its impact on teaching practice. The British Council will do this in its legitimate interest.

Data Protection

The British Council complies with data protection law in the UK and laws in other countries that meet internationally accepted standards. You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold on you, and the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in that information. If you have concerns about how we have used your personal information, you also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator. We will keep your information for a period of 7 years from the time of collection.
